Wisconsin Real Estate Program Receives Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Accreditation
The Wisconsin Real Estate Program has a new mark of distinction to add to its list of honors and recognitions - the BBA and MBA programs have been granted accreditation by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Real Estate Club Travels to Los Angeles
This year's Real Estate Club trip went to the land of swimming pools and movie stars - Los Angeles, California. Seen through the eyes of the real estate student, however, the glitz and glamour of LA pales in comparison to the excitement of a market on the move and on the grow. With the help of a core group of alumni from the LA area, Real Estate Club co-presidents Tom Gershman and Brandon Winter planned the trip, which included stops in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City and LA itself. Laurence Geller Receives the Real Estate Club Innovator Series Award
Laurence Geller was selected by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Real Estate Club as the second recipient of the Innovator Series Award. Presented jointly by the Club and Michael Brennan, Executive Director of the Graaskamp Center, the award was established to recognize outstanding individuals who have made a creative mark on the real estate industry. Case Competition Update: Wisconsin Team Earns Honorable Mention in ULI Case Competition
In last month's newsletter, we reported that four groups of undergrad and MBA students are teaming up to compete in some of the most prestigious and challenging real estate case competitions in the country. Being a part of a case competition team can be extremely time-consuming and demanding, especially with a full course load, but our passionate students have proven time and time again that they are up for the challenge. First-Year MBA Students Immerse Themselves in Global Real Estate During the Annual MIPIM Conference
In March, a group of first-year real estate MBA students traveled to Cannes to attend MIPIM, the premier international real estate conference in the world. The fifteen students were led by François Ortalo-Magné, Associate Professor and Department Chair and Arif Qureshi, Lecturer in the Department of Real Estate. This is the fifth year Wisconsin MBA's have attended the conference and this year's participation again marked an unprecedented collaboration between the Wisconsin group and the organizers and executives of MIPIM to help them deliver an improved experience to conference attendees and at the same time greatly improve the visibility of our program. The Wisconsin Real Estate and Economic Outlook Conference: "Navigating the Credit Crunch: What's Ahead for Wisconsin?" to be Held on June 4 in Madison
Each year, the "Real Estate and Economic Outlook Conference" (formerly called "The Wisconsin Housing Conference") addresses critical topics in real estate, housing, and the economy. This year's theme is "Navigating the Credit Crunch: What's Ahead for Wisconsin?" and will focus on political and economic influences related to the current credit crunch, with an emphasis on the availability of credit, regulatory reform, affordability issues, and policy responses. David Altig, Senior Vice President and Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will deliver the keynote presentation. Contact Lee Gottschalk for more information.
