Wisconsin Real Estate MBA Students Receive Honorable Mention in National Real Estate Challenge
On November 17, a team of four first- and second-year Real Estate MBA students from the Graaskamp Center for Real Estate received an honorable mention in the 2009 National Real Estate Challenge, hosted by the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. This year’s case study dealt with a high-profile Las Vegas casino project. The Wisconsin Team, comprised of Chris Hooker (MBA '11), Chris Jillings (MBA '10), Jim Lindsey (MBA '11), and Tanner Mueller (MBA '10), formed "Campus Equities" to analyze a complex real estate development deal. Professor François Ortalo-Magné and MBA Students Attend MIPIM Asia
François Ortalo-Magné, Robert E. Wangard Chair in Real Estate, recently led a group of three Wisconsin Real Estate MBA students to MIPIM Asia held in Hong Kong, one of the largest real estate conferences in Asia. With over 1500 participants, the event provided a valuable opportunity for students to hear directly from leading decision makers in global real estate and to expand their international network. Morris Davis' New Macroeconomics Textbook Receives Praise from Two Nobel Laureates
Students around the world will now have the opportunity to learn about macroeconomics from Assistant Professor Morris A. Davis, who has authored his first textbook, "Macroeconomics for MBAs and Masters of Finance." The book, to be published by Cambridge University Press in December, has been praised for closing a gap between research and textbooks. Edward C. Prescott, 2004 Nobel Laureate and professor at Arizona State University, calls the book, "a dramatic improvement on what is currently available for teaching aggregate economics to MBAs and advanced undergraduates." Joe Walsh Presents at MAPIC in Cannes, France
The global footprint of the Wisconsin Real Estate Program continues to make an impact around the world. While Department Chair François Ortalo-Magné, was in Hong Kong presenting at the MIPIM ASIA Conference, Faculty Associate Joe Walsh traveled to Cannes, France to participate in the annual MAPIC Conference.
