Mentoring & Support

To help our students learn more about the industries they are interested in and to explore new ones, we provide an extensive support system for them. In addition to a dedicated Center staff, students at the A.C. Nielsen Center benefit from a number of mentors, including External Advisory Board Members, Alumni and second year MBA students. These mentors help students in everything from navigating their way through day-to-day coursework to choosing a full-time employer.

External Advisory Board Mentors

Each student is assigned two mentors from the A.C. Nielsen External Advisory Board. The EAB members range from Director to CEO level. We personally match students and mentors to give students an inside perspective on marketing research careers. All students meet with their EAB mentors in-person at least twice a year and keep in touch on an ongoing basis. See the profiles of our External Advisory Board.

Alumni Mentors

We match each student with an alumnus mentors based on common interests. Students receive first-hand information about industry trends. They also learn about career opportunities in their specific companies and become acquainted with key leaders.

Second Year Student Mentors

Incoming students are paired with second year students to help acclimate them to life as an MBA student. Mentors share experiences and tips on managing the first year coursework, give advice on life in Madison and provide valuable insights into the internship process.
