The Resources of a World-Class University
University of Wisconsin-Madison is synonymous with excellence in higher education.
In achievement and prestige, UW-Madison has long been recognized as one of America's great universities, routinely ranked in the top five of U.S. universities for funded research and ranked #1, in a tie with Harvard University, for the number of alumni who are chief executive officers of Standard & Poor's 500 companies. In the most recent Academic Ranking of World Universities from China's Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Wisconsin was listed 17th in the world, based on a formula that includes number of alumni who win Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, and scholarly-citation indexes.
Founded in 1848 as a public, land-grant university, today it offers a complete spectrum of highly regarded programs in liberal arts and professional programs, with a total enrollment of more than 42,000.
Wisconsin has one of the oldest undergraduate academic real estate programs in the world, and one of the best, the University of Wisconsin's Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics consistently ranks as one of the top three real estate programs in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The department traces its history back to Richard T. Ely's 1925 program in Land and Public Utility Economics.
With this strong foundation and a forward-thinking approach, Wisconsin is uniquely positioned to provide leadership to the real estate industry in the 21st century. We aim to instill our students with our core values and to create a valuable and life-long network for learning and professional growth.
